The Jimi Hendrix Experience
The Jimi Hendrix Experience played at Yale University's Woolsey Hall in New Haven on November, 17, 1968. I couldn't find video footage from the concert, but it is still very strong in my memory. Truth be told, at the time I was into the much calmer waters of the folk scene, but it was a concert, so I just had to go and Woolsey Hall was one of my favorite concert venues. For my friends from Richmond, it was very much like the Landmark Theatre, having a more intimate feel than the bigger venues. It was also where my graduation would be held the following year. It was really my son Eric, also a guitarist, that after many years re-introduced me to Hendrix, so it really wasn't until just a few years ago that I really came to appreciate his music. I am now so very grateful that I was able to see him in concert. Jimi Hendrix died two years later in London, England on September 17, 1970.
